Fashion brand Band of Outsiders consistently reinvents strong classic sportswear for our modern lives. The line has been a favorite of fashion insiders for years (indeed we have several pieces in our closet) and may now be found in 225 retailers worldwide. The secret is out.
Launched in Los Angeles as a men’s fashion line by Scott Sternberg in 2004, Sternberg added the women’s line Boy, by Band of Outsiders in 2008; and Girl. by Band of Outsiders in 2010. All conceptualized under an iconoclast ethos, Sternberg now operates all three lines under a single moniker, Band of Outsiders (BOO). At the risk of sounding too hipster-ish, we enjoy that all of his marketing materials are shot with a Polaroid. These images harken back to the 60s, 70s, and 80s—all eras that BOO draws inspiration.
We especially love BOO for their amazing oxford-cloth shirts and strong color sense. Nothing feels forced and the edits are strong and precise. The Council of Fashion Designer of America (CFDA) agree with our assessment when they nominated Mr. Sternberg for the Vogue/Fashion Fund (2008) and then voted him the CFDA Menswear Designer of the Year (2010). These honors allowed BOO to team up with Target, et. al. on several collaborations.
Here are three fetch looks for both men and women from BOO’s spring 2015 collection.
