Banana Republic’s first foray into New York Fashion Week just happened. Showing for the first time at the famous tents, the brand is hyping a much needed revamp for their fall/winter 2015 collection. And from what we’re seeing on our Instragam account, this “revamp” looks more like a chic overhaul. We’re enthralled with the images of super bright pinks and electric blues. The styling is smart and sharp. Nothing feels forced. It looks like they’re shrugging their long-standing love affair with black, grey, and navy garments and we are ecstatic! It’s suddenly clear who they’re targeting: Us (and everyone we help style)!
In fact the entire collection reminds us of another fashion brand we love….
In the February 17, 2015, Wall Street Journal’s “Personal Journal” section was an article on BR’s new creative director, Marissa Webb. It revealed that Ms. Webb had worked at J. Crew for 11 years and left in 2012 after serving as the vice president of women’s design. Hello! We’ve been HUGE fans of J. Crew’s clothing for years and now we know it was Webb’s touch that made us fall in love with J. Crew women’s designs.
We look forward to F/W 2015 and seeing how Banana’s customer reacts to Webb’s color infusion and hip, fresh styles. We will certainly embrace it!
